Save with HMLP’s “Dollar a Gallon” EV Rewards

Sign up for this valuable EV rewards program open to Hingham residents. Simply set your car to charge between 10 pm and 12 pm on weekdays and complete the enrollment process. You then earn either a $5 (for Level 1 charging) or a $10 (for Level 2 charging) a month credit on your HMLP electric bill. Combined with HMLP lower than MA average electric rates, this could be like paying just one dollar per gallon equivalent of electric driving mileage!*

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Own or lease an EV, either a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that runs exclusively on electricity, or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that runs on electricity but can also switch to gas/electric hybrid mode
  • Have a HMLP residential electric account that you use to charge your EV

Residents charging at either Level 1 or Level 2 may participate in the program.

For more information on how to enroll in this program, contact us.

*$1 per gallon equivalent is based on an average EV efficiency and average miles driven per month combined with a $10 bill credit, as compared to an average gasoline only vehicle. Actual cost per e-gallon equivalent will vary depending on vehicle efficiency, miles driven per month, and the charging level rebate.

Get $300 back with the Level 2 Charging Rebate Program

HMLP is offering EV owners a rebate of $300 to help offset the cost of installing some or all components of a Wi-Fi capable Level 2 system for higher speed charging of an electric vehicle at your home if they first enroll in HMLP’s “Dollar a Gallon” EV rewards program described above.

A Wi-Fi capable Level 2 charging system typically consists of a 240 volt wiring circuit from your house electrical panel to an optional NEMA 14-50 or similar outlet and home EV charging station (aka EVSE, short for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) that has built-in WiFi network capability, such as the Chargepoint Home or Electrify America HomeStation.

The rebate may be used to pay for a licensed electrician’s services, electrical and/or the charging equipment. The rebate provided will be $300 or the amount of documented, eligible charging system expenditures, whichever is less.

To claim your rebate, contact us after enrolling in the Dollar a “Gallon” EV Rewards program and purchasing and installing your Level 2 charging equipment.
